25 at 9AM They really did it. We knew it was coming\, but now
it is official. The Conservatives on the Supreme Court of the United Stat
es have overturned a basic health care right that has been in place for ne
arly 50 years. This will be the first time in our country’s history that
a generation of women will come of age with FEWER rights than the precedin
g generation. Half of the states in our country are poised to move
quickly to ban abortion. The SCOTUS decision has already “triggered” laws
in South Dakota\, Louisiana and Kentucky that immediately outlaw abortion
. Missouri’s State Attorney General moved to enact that state’s trigger l
aw within minutes of the Supreme Court ruling. Thirteen states are moving
to outlaw abortion within the next 30 days. Seven more are poised to act
within the next few months. Arizona\, Michigan and Wisconsin are among th
e 10 states that have pre-Roe abortion bans that are now expected to take
effect. In Arizona\, it is unclear whether all abortions will be b
anned based on a law that is still on the books from the 1800’s or only th
ose after 15 weeks\, will be outlawed\, as per the recent legislation sign
ed by Gov. Ducey. Women will be forced to travel across taste line
s\, in some cases hundreds of miles to access the health care they need.
Those without the means to do so will be forced by the state to carry thei
r pregnancies to term. This chaos will create a public health emergency a
s women’s lives\, health\, and futures are dictated by the states in which
