DESCRIPTION:<p>The Treasury Department projects that the US government will
  only be able to pay it’s bills <span dir='ltr'>through June 1</span> with
 out a debt limit increase. That means we’re only eight days away from a de
 fault – and the worldwide economic catastrophe it would create! The Republ
 icans are literally holding the debt payment legislation hostage\, so they
  can get budget cuts they want!</p>\n<p>There’s still a way to stop the cr
 isis: House Democrats have introduced a Discharge Petition\, which is an e
 scape hatch to bring a clean default prevention bill to the House floor\, 
 even if Kevin McCarthy tries to block it. For this to work\, 218 Members o
 f Congress must sign on and refuse to negotiate on cuts that will hurt our

 to cut necessary programs\, they should do it in separate legislation that
  doesn’t threaten a global financial crisis!</p>
