ho is this training for?
\n
\n- Anyone who wants to learn about a
bsorption and build your skills to effectively bring people into our movem
ent in times of political activation\, and anyone who is planning on hosti
ng a mass meeting this summer!

What is absorption?
\n
\n- Absorption is both an orientation toward using moments
of political activation to bring more people into a movement\, and it’s al
so the skills that go along with growing our movements effectively.
\n
\n
Why do we absorb?
\n
\n- We absorb because in order to
achieve our goals\, we need to use solidarity power (the ability to work
and act together as a collective) to move large amounts of people to to bu
ild the world we want to see. In order to harness solidarity power\, we mu
st always be growing our movements and welcoming more people to move and t
ake action with us.

This training will cover:

\n- SURJ’s long-term strategy and goals\, and why we organize white peop
le
\n- SURJ’s plan to support members\, circles and chapters to host
mass meetings throughout the summer to welcome more people into our movem
ent
\n- The fundamentals of absorption: the whys\, how tos\, best pr
actices\, and how to create an absorption plan grounded in your context\n
- Examples of absorption successes and fails
\n- Next steps fo
r getting involved\, doing your own absorption\, and hosting a mass meetin
g.

We are offering three absorption trainings on June 12th
\, 18th and 26th. These are STAND ALONE trainings and they are not a serie
s. We will be offering the SAME training on each of these dates to offer p
eople different scheduling options for attending\, so you only need to sig
n up for ONE of these trainings!
