Corporation Commission Candidates
Shea Stanfield
My responsibility, as an ACC Clean Elections candidate in 2020, is to represent the residents of Arizona, protecting you as ratepayers.
My role is to focus on the ACC’s Constitutional oversight responsibilities; this includes engaging in decisions for renewable energy solutions, attracting sustainable business, and supporting the development of a healthy and economically thriving environment, by fighting corruption.
Together, we must elect individuals who are committed to building a sustainable future for Arizona. Read More
Bill Mundell
Bill believes the Corporation Commission should serve the people, not corporate interests. He has been fighting for transparency at the commission, which cost him dearly when APS and other utilities spent millions to defeat him.
If elected to the commission in 2020, Bill will fight for ratepayers and put an end to the price-fixing and backroom deals that cost ratepayers millions.
Bill believes investing in solar and renewable energy is the right approach for the economy as well as the environment.
He will fight to bring back rooftop solar incentives that APS-backed commissioners repealed, and fight to make sure our state is carbon neutral by 2050. Read More
Anna Tovar
Whether serving as Mayor in her hometown of Tolleson, fighting for a better quality of life for underserved communities as a State Senator, or teaching our youth in the Tolleson Elementary School District, Anna Tovar has dedicated her life to improving Arizona communities.
She now wants to bring her integrity and experience to the Arizona Corporation Commission where she can fight for accountability and fairness for all Arizona consumers. Read More

POLARIZED: Can the Conscious Community Bridge our Divide?
A community once united by interconnectedness and love has arrived at a moment of great tension. In our conscious communities nationwide, we’re seeing friends and family fighting with and shaming one another over masks, vaccines and the election, leaving many of us feeling scared, uncertain, judged, demonized or disconnected from each other.
As an organization, ILLUMINATE’s mission is to elevate human consciousness and inspire lasting transformation through cinema, discussion and immersive experiences. We are not about taking sides; we are about expanding awareness toward inclusiveness and wholeness.
In that light, we invite you to join our expert panelists in a free event designed to explore how our minds become polarized in the pursuit of truth, and how we can find our way back to a community oriented toward tolerance, acceptance and love.
MODERATOR: Shaeri Richards is a filmmaker, writer, performer and hypnotherapist focused on the Healing Arts. Shaeri spent 20 years as a radio and television journalist and most recently served as the co-writer/producer/director of the documentary Moving from Emptiness: The Life and Art of a Zen Dude.
PANELIST: Jonas Kaplan, Ph.D is a cognitive neuroscientist. He is Assistant Research Professor of Psychology at USC’s Brain and Creativity Institute, where he uses functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to study how the brain works. He is also Co-Director of the Dana & David Dornsife Cognitive Neuroimaging Center and co-author of “Getting a Grip on Other Minds: Mirror Neurons, Intention Understanding, and Cognitive Empathy.”
PANELIST: Ragini Michaels is the founder of Facticity® Trainings, Inc., a training and consulting company established in 1988 offering certification in Paradox Management, Centered 24-7, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Ericksonian Hypnosis. Her original work on the Psychology of Paradox has received critical acclaim and taken her across the globe to present seminars. We are celebrating the Golden Globes and Black History month by viewing One Night in Miami for our next DORR political film group. Available free on Amazon Prime here.
Regina King’s directorial debut, One Night in Miami is a fictionalized account of before and after the Cassius Clay/Sonny Liston fight on February 25, 1964, when Clay’s upset victory earned him the World Heavyweight championship. After the fight, Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge), Cassius Clay (Eli Goree) and Sam Cooke ( Leslie Odom Jr) gather at the Hampton House motel. Based on a play by Kemp Powers, the film shows the private behind the public as the four icons discuss racism, freedom, and social justice.
The film received three Golden Globe nominations, one for its director, one for best actor in a supporting role for Leslie Odom Jr. who plays singer Sam Cooke, and for best original song recognition for “Speak Now.” Regina King is the second black woman to receive a Golden Globe nomination in the best director category.
Political Book Club
March 27 – Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson – 496 pages
Currently, meetings are held via Zoom from 1:00 until 3:00 pm (MST). The only requirement to join the discussion is that each participant has read the book. The standard format consists of each person giving a brief (1-2 minute) statement concerning the book’s overall impressions and implications. Request to Speak, RTS, is an easy program created by the State of Arizona to let our voices be heard. Join us by contacting the AZ Legislature to let them know which bills we support and oppose. Our voices will be heard regarding education, the climate/environment, democracy reform/voting, economic justice, healthcare, and immigration. Though this AZ state access is called Request to Speak we will be armchair activists and speak through our online actions. Please join us by signing up for RTS.
