April’s  Film

Friday April 9, 5 PM

Greetings film aficionados, join us for a stimulating conversation on the war in Bosnia with an International Criminal Court prosecutor of war criminal Radko Mladic.

We’re keeping with award nominees.  We’ll view “Quo Vadis, Aida?” ($5.99 on Amazon), a Bosnian war drama written, produced, and directed by Jasmila Zbanic and nominated for an Academy Award for best International Feature.  In his New York Times review, A.O. Scott called the film “unsparing and astonishing.”  https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/11/movies/quo-vadis-aida-review.html
You can also read about the film at https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/17/movies/quo-vadis-aida-jasmila-zbanic.html?smid=em-share.

Federal Magistrate Judge Camille Bibles will join us for the conversation.  Before becoming a Judge, Ms. Bibles prosecuted Bosnian Serb colonel-general Ratko Mladic during her time at the Hague.  She is a central figure in the Front Line one-hour episode, “The Trial of Ratko Mladic´,” available at https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/the-trial-of-ratko-mladic/
