Acasa, My Home (2020) is a drama about a tug of war between nature, civilization, and displacement, and may be a nice transition from Nomadland.

Latcho Drom (1993) is a lovely, colorful documentary almost exclusively of Roma music and dance stretching from India through Western Europe.
Let’s meet Friday, June 25th at 5pm on zoom. Our guest is Sonia Skindrud, who worked with the Open Society Foundations, often in Eastern Europe, for nearly a decade in the late 1990s early 2000s. Sonya wrote her Master’s thesis (Columbia University, Teacher’s College) on Roma access to education. She will provide opening remarks on the topic to start the conversation.
Join us for what we know will be a rich conversation about nomadism and the traditionally nomadic Romani peoples.
DORR’s political film club is hosted by Mik Jordahl (Attorney) and Frankie Riemer (Professor). To sign up, send an email to Filmclub@democratsoftheredrocks.org and ask for the Zoom invitation. If you signed up for any of our previous films, your name is already on our list for the invite.
We’ll send a zoom invite a few days before the discussion. Just watch the film/s before we meet, grab something to eat and drink, and be ready to discuss!
